| Upgrading to Cinergy 5

If you purchased one
or more modules of Cinergy after April 1, 2004, and you purchased from a retail
website or online store, you might receive a box containing the
older Cinergy version 4.2 from the store. However, if your
purchase date meets the criteria above, you are
eligible for a free upgrade to Cinergy 5 - the latest
version of Cinergy. You can upgrade to Cinergy 5 over the
Internet using the
online update process described below.
Which version do
I have?
If you aren't sure which version you received in your box,
no problem! Just install whatever version was
shipped to you. Then, run the Cinergy Update Wizard, as
described below, to ensure you have installed the latest
revisions to Cinergy and upgrade to Cinergy Version 5. If you meet the criteria for a free upgrade
shown above, the following instructions will help guide you
through the process of receiving your free upgrade via the
Update Wizard.
Already installed
Cinergy from a web download?
If you already installed a retail or trial version of Cinergy
before you purchased your new license, don't un-install
it! And there is no need to install again from the CD
shipped to you, either. The trial version can be converted to a
licensed version with just a few registration steps, and
upgrades to new versions are just a few clicks away. Just
be sure to run the Update Wizard as described below to ensure you have the latest
enhancements to Cinergy 5. Steps to perform the
registration are shown as the last step in this list.

1. |
Install
the Cinergy software, if you haven't already done so.
If any version of Cinergy is already installed on your computer, just
proceed to step 3. Cinergy must already be installed before
you can begin the upgrade, update, or registration processes.
If you need to install Cinergy,
insert the
CD-ROM, or if you downloaded the software from the web, run
CinergySetup.exe. You must complete the
installation before moving on to the next steps. During the installation, you
may be asked to reboot your computer. Be sure to do that
before proceeding with any more steps. If you did not
receive a Cinergy CD-ROM, or have not yet
downloaded the trial version, get
it here.

The
installation will be complete when you click the
"Finish" button in the install program.
If you are asked to reboot, be sure to do so before
continuing to the next step.

After
installation is complete (and you rebooted, if you were prompted
to do so), launch the Cinergy Update Wizard
Do this by clicking on
Start > Programs > Cinergy > Update Wizard.

Select the
appropriate connection type that you use to connect to the
Internet
This will begin guiding you through the update and upgrade
process. Select your connection type and click the NEXT
button. If you are a DSL customer, or you use AOL as your
ISP, you may need to try each connection types to determine
which one works for your location.

Select
Cinergy MPPS 5.0 from the list to get the latest revisions and
enhancements.
Depending on which Cinergy products were previously
installed on your computer, you will see a list of items
available for update. These updates include enhancements,
bug fixes, and any new features released to the public by our
development team. The upgrade fee only applies to you if
you purchased Cinergy prior to April 1, 2004.
If you were notified of eligibility for
a free upgrade to Cinergy 5, you can ignore
the upgrade fee. In the next few steps, we'll show you how to bypass the
payment.
Select Cinergy 5 from the list,
then click NEXT.

Bypass
the upgrade charges for Cinergy 5
Uncheck the box on this screen to bypass the payment
processing. Although unchecking this box bypasses the
payment processing, allowing you to continue with the upgrade to
Cinergy 5 free of charge, you will not be issued license key and
registration numbers unless you are confirmed as being eligible for the free
upgrade. If you are unsure of your eligibility status, you
can contact technical support at support@MindstarProds.com
or through our web support
page.

Confirmation
Click YES to acknowledge that you understand the displayed
message.

Start
the update and upgrade to Cinergy 5
This will continue guiding you through the remainder of the
update process. Click OK to begin the update.

Reboot,
if requested to do so.
If the update asked you to reboot your computer, please do
so before proceeding with the next steps. If you select to
automatically reboot your computer but no reboot occurs, restart
your computer manually by clicking on Start > Shut Down >
Restart

Register
your installation of Cinergy 5
Serial Numbers and License Keys issued for Cinergy versions
prior to 5.0 will no longer be valid for Cinergy 5. New
numbers will be issued to you via email though the registration
process.
